Dear members and friends of the St Kilda Uniting Church community,
After a thoughtful discussion with members of the congregation this morning, Church Council has decided that physical isolation is essential at this point in time and that we need to suspend all face-to-face gatherings of the church until further notice: this includes Sunday mornings and all discussion/study/dining events. We will put a notice on the front door and on the website to inform the public.
Many within our faith community are in the very vulnerable category, and we think it is both responsible and prudent to behave as if we might be infected and therefore ought not to be in contact with others.
During our discussion, we also identified several ways in which we might stay connected whilst physically separated.
We identified that our website: stkildaunitingchurch.org.au will play a major role in keeping everyone informed and up-to-date about the life of our faith community. We will use our website to:
Share information
- Circulate resources that will support and nourish our faith-life.
- Identify opportunities for group connectivity via applications like ZOOM, or Whatsapp
We will also attempt to distribute via email a re-configured Newsletter twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. The newsletter will contain items of interest and news about people and events etc. Please feel free to contribute to this community communication by sending into Desleigh (desleighk@ozemail.com.au) and myself (saints163@bigpond.com), material you think might be valuable or useful or funny!
Meanwhile, on behalf of Church Council, take care of yourself and look out for others where and when you can.
“ Love God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbour as yourself.”
Also, please be patient with us as we get our heads around technology and navigate our way through what is a complex time for all of us, and very distressing time for some people who are having to make difficult decisions about employees and small business activities.
Let prayer be the means by which we participate in solidarity.
Shalom
David
