Being a christian community means being part of the great and ever expanding body of the cosmic god.
It means being in our bodies and using them, when we can, to bring about justice and peace for the other bodies that cannot stand on their own.
Bodies, and their many identities have been at the centre of debate these last few weeks as a bill was argued on the floor of parliament and in the streets and schools of Australia. Uniting Church president Sharon Hollis said that the Bill as it currently stood could ’embolden discrimination in the wider community’
We stand with the great rainbow family within and outside of our faith story.
We congratulate the politicians who had the guts to stand up against bigotry and transphobia.
Speaking of the body…This Tuesday we invite you to come and use your bodies and hearts to sing songs of hope at the Park Hotel Prison. 5pm at 701 Swanston St Carlton: Join an impromptu choir singing songs of freedom and justice for and with the refugees in detention.
