Lennie’s response to the earthquake:
I am still shaking, with, my legs glued to ground
An earthquake came, with rumbling sound
It threatened my house, my life and my sleep
It was more than I could bear and I will certainly keep
Locked away in case, it comes again
Keeping me on edge, if not in pain.
And what of this city, tottering on the edge
With the workers rioting and those policefolk wedged
Between a rock and a hard place, I heard it said
They were caught in the middle and might easily dread
Getting out of their beds and going to work
It’s certainly no picnic with little perks
And the protesters took their seat at that sacred place
Saying “Lest we forget”, it seemed a fall from grace
So, I wonder when this earthquake will end
When dear Dan our Premier will give in or bend
To the constant demands of this angry mob
It’s unnerving and sad, it makes this lizard’s heart throb.
